“Finding Fallacies or No Fallacies” Please respond to the following:
..
You encounter/create arguments everyday but probably do not notice them. Try to find arguments and examples of logical errors in your everyday conversations with your family members and your friends. (Do not use examples from Internet Web sites which deal specifically with logic.)
..
1. Provide examples of two (2) “real-life” arguments (these should not be syllogisms; in ‘real life’ we rarely encounter arguments in the form of syllogisms). In a few sentences, describe each argument. Make sure to indicate its conclusion and its premises.
2. Evaluate the argument. Is it valid? Is it sound? Determine whether the argument contains logical errors (if yes, which errors?) or whether it is an example of good reasoning.
Assume a law enforcement officer has probable cause to arrest a defendant for armed assault, and he also has probable cause to believe that the person is hiding in a third person’s garage, which is attached to the house.
If you answered no to any of the above, explain why in detail. If you answered yes to any of them, draft the complaint or affidavit for a warrant or explain why a warrant is not needed.

This week we shifted our focus to our eukaryotic “cousins”, the plants. With that in mind, the discussion topic is designed to provoke some critical analysis of both systems. Pick one of the following topics and compare at least two major similarities and two differences between vascular plants and humans.
*The “circulatory” system of vascular plants compared to humans
*The reproductive cycle of vascular plants compared to humans
*Organs or tissues of vascular plants compared to humans (you need to choose only one or two comparable tissue or organ types)
There is a second portion of this assignment that will force you to think about how plants affect our individual lives. In our day-to-day hustle and bustle, plants are typically overlooked for all that they provide for us. Simply stated, they are all too often taken for granted. With that being said, I would like for you to take the time to ponder just what plants have done for you. In fact, I challenge you to LIST and EXPLAIN at least ten ways in which plants in general or specific plants provide for you in your life and HOW they benefit or enrich your life. I encourage you to write your entry before reading any of your classmates’ posts to see if you can come up with any original ways plants affect you.
Unit II Case Study
Mary is a model employee and works as a supervisor for a construction company. She has been an employee for more than 15 years. Mary is the only female supervisor and one of only a handful of women in a very male dominated company. Her male peers have been there on average five years less and have been promoted much faster than Mary. She is the only one with an advanced degree. Mary likes her job and does not have any complaints about how she is treated.
One day after a particularly long hard day at work, Mary and some of her peers decide to go out to dinner. At dinner, a couple of her male co-workers start discussing salary and talking about other job offers with more money. Mary realized that that all of her male counterparts were currently making at least $5,000 more a year than her. After talking with the other supervisors, she determined that she has been making less, with no immediately discernible reason, for at least the last five years.
Can Mary bring a claim for gender discrimination? Does the statute of limitations apply? Create a scenario for both before and after the Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. court decision, and its responsive legislation, The Fair Pay Act of 2009.
Your response should be at least two pages (double spaced) in length. All references and citations used must be in APA style.
You have just attended a manager’s meeting about establishing self-directed, high-performing teams. The company is concerned because some of the managers are having success building self-directed, high-performing teams while others are not. A discussion occurred that identified the characteristics of the successful team building elements and compared them to those managers that have not been successful. This is a situation where those who are struggling need to learn from those who are doing well. The discussions included identifying what could be going wrong and what steps might be taken for success.
You have been asked to write a research report that summarizes the meeting and offers some recommendations that might be helpful to those managers who are struggling. Specifically, your report must include:
