Length: You are required to complete two questions: Question 1 is compulsory, while you have a choice between Questions 2 and 3. All questions carry equal marks. Wrte a total of about two thousand words for both questions—that is thousand words for each question.

When answering the questions below, draw on the textbook readings, the Study Guide commentary, your own experiences, and other resources as appropriate. Use APA to list and cite any sources you use.
Question 1: This question is compulsory – you MUST answer this question.
1. Apply the model of strategic human resource management (Chapter 1, page 8, Figure 1-2 in the textbook) to your choice of a case study organization or any Canadian organization you are familiar with. Critically analyze each step of the process in detail by relating it clearly to your chosen organization. Support your analysis through examples to clearly explain how each stage of the process is related to your chosen organization.
SHRM modes five models are:
1. Organization mission, goals and strategies analysis
2. Environmental scan
3. Analysis of organizational character and culture
4. Choice and implementation of human resource strategies
5. Review, evaluation and audits of human resource strategies
Question 2 and Question 3: You must complete either one of the following questions.
2. Critically analyze the following statement by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the context of organizational dynamics.
“Canada is strong not in spite of differences, but because of them” (Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister, November 16th 2015).
How does diversity make any Canadian organization stronger? What, in your opinion, is the role of government (both federal and provincial) in making sure that diversity remains our strength and not a weakness. Use examples of Canadian organizations to support your answer.

3. This question has two parts. If you choose Question 3, you must complete both parts.
a. Critically analyze the wage gap between women working full time compared to men working full time in Canada in general, and in your home province specifically.
b. What does HR need to do to ensure that the processes of recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and promotion are not based on an unacknowledged norm [tall, white, male, born in Canada] that marginalizes and excludes those who do not fit this description?
