If you could surgically remove red bone marrow from an individual, what would happen to that person in terms of their formed elements?

Individuals involved in relatively minor accidents, may suffer cuts and bruises, but generally do not suffer from excessive blood loss.  What features does your blood possess that limits blood loss during minor accidents?
