An education pamphlet is often handed out to the patient when they receive a prescription. It must include each of the following components:
· Generic name
· Trade/brand name (No need to list more than one)
· Drug class
· Mechanism of action (Not always part of a handout, but required for this assignment)
· Indications (List any and all uses)
· Side effects
· Information about overdose (If available)
· General administration points (Take with meals, store in refrigerator, etc…)
This information can all be easily obtained from google (no citations needed). You will need to find a patient brochure template and fill the information in. You will select the medication that starts with the same letter as your first name. You will submit a professional looking brochure for this assignment. The pamphlet must be tri-fold style with full color. It must be easy to find the desired section. It must be accurate and comprehensive. The difference between a satisfactory and an outstanding submission is usually in the “general administration points”. Be sure to cover this section well. There are always some special instructions or unique facts about every drug (i.e. do not take with foods that contain tyramine, must be tapered etc.). You do not need to list information such as how to store it.
