Good morning:
Having experienced the first part of the clinical rotation has been a great discovery for me. I really enjoyed being by the side of my preceptor and having her at my side has been helpful. I have found during the clinical that being able to understand the human mind is a curiosity I have and being able to help them recognize they are facing fears, worries and even life specific behaviors has been a great discovery for me. I have the resources of my preceptor every day and have used my lecture book as well to apply different types of psychotherapy techniques to different patient’s encounters while on therapy. I have a great interaction with my preceptor and with the staff around it. Nurses, mental health techs and other social workers have been around to help me with my journey. My role as a Family Nurse practitioner varies a lit of bit from treating mental health patients. With them we create an open bridge for communication and often we spend more time with them than we regular patients. My transition has been smooth, I have been working as a Nurse practitioner with mental health patients a few years ago for jail and that helped as well with clinical now. Well in my practicum I learned different things but something that called my attention is that I learned with patients is that by listening and observing them we can somehow tell you what is inside their minds. Lastly, I currently do not have any situations at clinical everything is doing great, and I feel great and very excited to learn more and more! Thank you.
