Essay 1: Personal Narrative
Write a personal narrative that explores one of the below options. The goal of this essay is to explore your narrative voice through the telling of an experience that you’ve encountered in your life. For example, you could write an essay about coming to terms with the loss of a grandparent. You could write about winning the state championship as the underdog. You could write about an international adventure that will stick with you for a lifetime. The goal is to delve deep into the details of these experiences to provide the reader with an opportunity to see it for themselves. Keep in mind that you are writing for a public audience, not for personal therapy.
Your instructor will provide more detailed instructions to help guide the beginning stages of your work.
Write a personal narrative that explores the theme of “surviving” something. As the above examples show, there are many ways to define what it means to survive.
Your essay should be two to three pages, double-spaced, with 12 point Times New Roman font and one-inch margins. Use MLA formatting and citations as needed.
