In trying to analyze a poem, it is helpful to paraphrase each line, in order to breakdown the images and interact with the text.
For this post do all of the following in minimum of 200 words:
1. Re-read the section on paraphrasing (p. 16-18) in the poetry textbook, including the poem “Ask Me,” by William Stafford, and reread the paraphrase that follows it.
2. Then, comment on the effectiveness of this paraphrase. What elements of the paraphrase seem most effective to you in representing the overall theme of Stafford’s poem?
3. Next, identify an image or two from the poem that stands out to you as having been paraphrased successfully. In your opinion, was there anything that might have been paraphrased more effectively, or does this seem to be a thorough paraphrase to you?
(Use specific examples from the poem to support your discussion.)
