FIRST:
- A) OPEN your original paper and look to see if you have an overview. If you do, move on to your FIRST body paragraph. If you DO NOT, look at your revised intro and find your overview. Then, look at your first body paragraph.
- Does the FIRST idea in your overview match your FIRST body paragraph?
- Rinse and repeat for body paragraphs 2 and 3.
- This should not take a long time—NOTE what you need to fix here in a document.
THEN:
- Look at body paragraph 1:
- Highlight the topic sentence. If one is missing, NOTE it.
- Highlight your development and discussion/ analysis of the text. If you notice commentary, mark it in some manner. The same thing goes for opinion, outside sources, etc. If you are missing discussion and development that analyzes the text, NOTE it.
- Highlight your thesis tie back. If you are missing one, NOTE it.
Work on REVISING your body paragraphs:
- Make sure you have a topic sentence that expresses the main idea of the paragraph.
- Make sure you have development and discussion/ analysis of the text.
- Make sure you have quotes from the text(s) to support your reading /argument / analysis.
- Make sure you have a thesis tie back.
- Highlight all parts accordingly.
- Rinse and repeat for body paragraphs 2 and 3.
