Cultural Values in Children’s Literature
For this assignment, you will examine the underlying cultural values expressed in children’s literature. Choose one short story or picture book. You can obtain a book from a local library, your own personal collection, or you can view complete children’s books online (for free!) using the We Give Books website or another website like this.
You will use Hofstede’s Value’s Dimensions: Individualism/ Collectivism, High/ Low Uncertainty Avoidance, High/ Low Power Distance, Masculinity/Femininity, Long/Short term orientation
For this assignment, you will categorize as many components of the story that you can which reflect the values identified above in a 3-4 page paper, organized as follows:
